Forward progress stopped on Gunnison Fire burning north of

Update 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 – CAL FIRE has just confirmed that forward progress has stopped on the Gunnison Fire. It is 350 acres in size.

Update 3:29 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 – Butte County Sheriff’s Office is now evacuating all of Munjar Rd and all roads off Munjar Rd due to the Gunnison Fire.

Update 3:29 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 – According to the CAL FIRE Butte Unit the Garrison Fire has grown to 200 acres.

Update 2:59 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 – So far the Gunnison Fire has burned 70 acres of grass. See below for evacuation orders.

Update 2:45 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 – Action News Now meteorologist Bryan Ramsey said the winds are impacting the Gunnison Fire spread. North-northeast winds are moving at speeds of 25-35 mph. This is pushing the fire south toward Keefer Road from the north-northeast.

CHICO, Calif. – The Gunnison Fire is burning near Trinidad Drive and Gunnison Way north of Chico on the east side of Highway 99.

As of 2:30 p.m. CAL FIRE said 40 acres have burned.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office is working on evacuation orders. So far it has been confirmed that residents from Trinidad Drive, Denver Lane, and Gunnison have been evacuated.
